Allerton is a residential neighborhood in the east Bronx named after early settler Daniel Allerton, encompassing the sub-areas of Bronxwood to the south and Laconia to the north, and served by the 2 and 5 trains on the IRT White Plains Road Line. Once predominantly Jewish and Italian, it shifted through the latter half of the 20th century to become a largely West Indian and Dominican community, and today is home to several NYCHA developments including the Pelham Parkway Houses.
