Bayswater is a small residential neighborhood on the eastern end of the Rockaway Peninsula, nestled along the Jamaica Bay shore just northwest of Far Rockaway. Established around 1878 by developer William Trist Bailey — whose name lives on in local street names — it evolved from a seasonal summer destination into a year-round community home to a diverse mix of Black, Hispanic, and Orthodox Jewish residents.
