Bedford-Stuyvesant, known as Bed-Stuy, is one of Brooklyn's largest and most historically significant neighborhoods, long the heart of African American culture in New York City and home to one of the country's greatest concentrations of intact Victorian brownstones. In recent decades it has undergone significant gentrification while retaining a vibrant cultural identity rooted in its deep community history.
