Chelsea-Travis is a combined designation for two adjacent, largely undeveloped neighborhoods on Staten Island's West Shore, hemmed in by the Arthur Kill waterway and surrounding wildlife refuges and marshland. Travis, one of Staten Island's oldest and most isolated communities dating to the 1650s, retains a distinctly rural character, while Chelsea remains mostly open land and light industry.
