Claremont

The Bronx

Claremont is a densely populated neighborhood in the southwestern Bronx, bordered by the Cross Bronx Expressway and Webster Avenue, and among the areas hardest hit by the arson and urban abandonment that devastated the south Bronx in the 1970s. Now a predominantly African-American and Latino community, it has undergone significant rebuilding since those years and sits adjacent to Morrisania, the broader neighborhood that shares its history as a cradle of hip-hop culture.
