Fairmount-Claremont Village is a residential sub-neighborhood within the Tremont area of the west Bronx, a hilly enclave of attached homes and low-rise apartment buildings between the Grand Concourse and the elevated tracks of the 4 train. Like much of the surrounding area, it is a predominantly Latino working-class community that was heavily impacted by urban disinvestment in the 1970s and has undergone gradual revitalization since.
