Koreatown in Flushing is one of the largest and fastest-growing Korean enclaves outside of Korea itself, stretching along Northern Boulevard eastward through Murray Hill, Auburndale, and Bayside with Korean restaurants, karaoke bars, and Hangul signage marking its commercial corridors. Korean immigration began in earnest in the 1980s when professionals settled around Union Street, and Queens now counts over 64,000 Korea-born residents — the highest density of Korean Americans of any U.S. municipality.
