LeFrak City

Sub-neighborhood in Corona · Queens

LeFrak City is a massive 40-acre, 4,605-apartment complex straddling the Corona-Elmhurst border, built between 1962 and 1971 by the LeFrak Organization across twenty 17-story towers whose names reference world cities, originally intended to house working- and middle-class families near the 1964 World's Fair site. A $70 million renovation completed through 2017 modernized its facades and introduced solar panels and robotic security, and the complex has produced a notable roster of alumni including rappers Noreaga and Kool G Rap and NBA players Kenny Smith and Kenny Anderson.
