Hollis is a residential neighborhood in southeastern Queens with deep ties to African-American culture and a legendary place in hip-hop history as the birthplace of Run-DMC and LL Cool J. Today it is a stable, predominantly Black middle-class community of attached homes and small apartment buildings, with a commercial strip along Hollis Avenue and easy access to the Long Island Rail Road.
